SHRED II from Larry Ransom on Vimeo.
I’ve been digging through boxes and trying to organize and condense my belongings and just came across an unlabeled VHS tape. I popped it in and quickly found out it was some old footage of me skateboarding.
This footage is from a late summer, early fall day in 1990 and it was filmed by my MOM. My parents were very protective of their video camera and were afraid that I would break it if I took it out skating with my friends. So Mom filming was my only option at times. Huge thanks to my Mom for being supportive.
The first spot you see is a church out on Chestnut Ridge Road (I don’t even know the real name of it) that we called Saint Simon’s Church due to Lockport legend, Simon Mellor once holding legendary sessions there and living right behind it.
The second spot is Packet Park along the south side of the Erie Canal between the Exchange Street and Adams Street Lift Bridges. Don’t search, because it’s gone. Packet Park has taken the wrath of the iron blade.
What you see here in this video is an awkward, lanky 16 year old kid who loved nothing more than skateboarding…
…and still does.
